Shorebased one-day courses

For anyone who wants to learn to sail safely, we provide a number of RYA shore-based practical one day courses covering all aspects of safety. We run RYA courses on :

VHF/GMDSS marine radio - the Short Range certificate including Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and other aspects of GMDSS - EPIRB's, SART's and Navtex.

RYA First Aid - specifically targeted at the marine environment with emphasis on head injuries, hypothermia and helicopter rescue.

Diesel Engine Maintenance - how to service and maintain small marine diesel engines. The RNLI state that the majority of callouts are due to engine failures.

Basic Sea Survival - Lifejackets, liferafts, flares and survival strategies. Including 2 hour pool practical with inflated lifekjackets and liferaft.

Although not a sea school, Central Sailing work closely with RYA recognised sea schools throughout the UK and abroad to provide first class practical courses for Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster, the equivalent MCA qualifications, the International Certificate of Confidence (ICC), mileage building or just relaxing sailing holidays.
